Elizabeth Wanjiru Wathuti and Wanjira Maathai discuss attending Davos as a younger African activist and the affect of professor Wangari Maathai on their lives and work

Elizabeth Wanjiru Wathuti is  a passionate environmentalist and local weather activist from Kenya. She is the founding father of Inexperienced Technology Initiative (GGI) and the Head of Campaigns and Coordinator of Daima Coalition for the Safety of City Inexperienced Areas on the Wangari Maathai Basis. She served as International South Youth Co-chair for the COP26 Civil Society and Youth Advisory Council and addressed world leaders on the World Leaders’ Summit opening ceremony at COP26 in Glasgow.

Wanjira Maathai is the vp and regional director for Africa on the World Sources Institute. She beforehand served as senior partnership advisor, technique and advocacy at wPOWER – Partnership on Ladies’s Entrepreneurship in Renewables and WRI’s senior advisor to the International Restoration Initiative. She is chairperson of the Wangari Maathai Basis and former chairperson of the Inexperienced Belt Motion in Kenya.

Wanjira and Elizabeth share their ideas with us concerning the function and participation of youth and ladies within the local weather and environmental justice house, and clarify how the inspirational management of the late professor Wangari Maathai has impacted their very own lives and continues to form their work.

Elizabeth additionally shares what it was like attending final month’s World Financial Discussion board in Davos as a younger African local weather activist.
