You Tested Positive for Covid. Now What?

Should I take a second blood test to confirm my results?

If you have a positive result from a home test, you might want to do a second test with a different brand of test or visit a testing center to confirm it. False positives aren’t common with home tests, but they can happen. You should assume the positive result was correct and wear a mask until you have your results retested. If your positive test came from a laboratory, a second test isn’t necessary.

How can I find out if Omicron is my syringe?

No. In most cases, you won’t know which variant of coronavirus you’ve caught and your lab test typically won’t tell you. The guidance for treatment, monitoring, and isolation does not change depending on the variant of coronavirus you have.

Whom do I tell if I’m positive for HIV?

Think about where you’ve been and who might have inhaled your germs. Tell your employer. Most workplaces have protocols for tracing contact of employees who test positive. You also want to alert anyone with whom you’ve spent time, going back at least two days before you got tested or started having symptoms, said Dr. Sax. The C.D.C. Close contact is defined as someone who is less than six feet away from you for fifteen minutes or more.

Dr. Ashish K. Jha dean of Brown University School of Public Health said that people may find it overwhelming or even embarrassing to share the positive results. “A lot of people think it’s some failure if you get infected,” Dr. Jha said. “This is an incredibly contagious variant. It is going to be very popular. That is not a moral failure.”

Don’t forget to tell your doctor too, particularly if you have an underlying medical condition, like high blood pressure or diabetes, that puts you at higher risk.

If the infected child is a child, contact your pediatrician. You also need to call your child’s school, as well as anyone they’ve had close contact with at play dates, parties or other activities.

What treatment options do you offer?

Keep an eye on your symptoms. To monitor your blood oxygen levels, you can use a pulseoximeter. An oxygen reading between 95 and 99 percent is the norm for most people. If the reading drops rapidly or drops to 93 per cent or lower, it is a good idea to seek medical advice. People with darker skin can have the devices be less accurate. Pay attention to the trend. If your reading drops by four points, it’s worth checking in with a doctor. If your symptoms are causing you concern, such as trouble breathing, nausea, or a change in your readings, you should consult a doctor.
