Three days after his car was hit by a snowstorm, a Virginia father’s remains were found in a wooded area.
Jacob Whaley (34), was driving home after work when his car got stuck. He told his family he was going walking home but texted his mother at 8:46 p.m. to inform her that he was lost.
Whaley’s family reported Whaley missing to multiple law enforcement agencies immediately.

Angela Whaley, Jacob’s sister, said that she was able to track his cell phone to an area around Greene’s Corner Rd in Louisa County.
Whaley said that he had pinged his last known address and that he was now on Fox News Digital.[My mom]They were given the general area he was located, as she was on the telephone with him up to a certain point.”
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies “immediately responded to the family’s request to check both the roadside area along Greene’s Corner Rd, the roadways in between and his residence multiple times over the next few days.”
“It was not until January 6th that Mr. Whaley was located in the woods approximately 209 yards off the roadway in a very dense pine plantation near Greene’s Corner Rd,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Friday.

Angela said Jacob’s body was found approximately two miles from his house and his car about six miles from his residence, but she believes he would still be alive had authorities acted faster.
She wrote on Facebook, “They refused to perform their jobs,” the day after her brother’s body was discovered. “Had they searched in the area my mother told them my brother was in Monday night when he claimed he was lost, his life could have been saved.”
Louisa County Sheriff’s Department stated missing person cases are a priority and that they share the Whaley’s “grief” and “sorrow.”
“Our deepest condolences go out for the family and friends Mr. Jacob Whaley,” said the sheriff’s department.
Angela said Jacob’s passing is like deja vu to her family as they had buried another sibling after a tragedy.
“[Jacob]He was honest and open-minded. He loved to laugh with children. She said that he loved his nieces and nephews as well his family.
