A big winter storm is cranking up across the Plains and Midwest today and is forecast to move across the Mississippi and Tennessee River valleys on Saturday.

Depending on where you live, the weather conditions and the temperature of the storm, there may be a variety in the precipitation. This could include rain, freezing rain, ice, and snow.
Heavy snow is possible in the Appalachians. An icy mix can be expected for Carolinas. What looks like an “all-snow” event for New England and the interior Northeast.
A coastal storm could bring rain or snow to the I-95 corridor.
The system will then trap bitter cold air behind it.
In other weather news: On Saturday, rain will fall on Southern California due to low pressure off the West Coast.
